Postdoctoral Research Associate – Stem Cell and Obesity Research - Jiang lab
A postdoctoral research associate position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Yuwei Jiang in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics in the College of Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago. We have broad interests in adipose tissue development, homeostasis, and expansion, with particular focus on elucidating the roles of adipose stem cells in obesity and its associated metabolic comorbidities. We aim (1) to explore the mechanisms that control white and beige adipocyte development and maintenance and (2) to understand how these mechanisms go awry in response to metabolic diseases. To do so, we use cutting-edge tissue specific, inducible knockout and lineage tracing mouse models, coupled with molecular and cellular approaches and advanced genomics and imaging technologies.
Candidates with the following qualifications will be considered: 1) individuals with curious and passionate mind with a Ph.D. (or Ph.D. candidates) in biology, or related field, 2) first author publications in high impact journals, 3) excellent writing and oral communication skills, and 4) experiences in mouse genetics, cell culture, histology, flow cytometry, imaging analysis, and/or mouse metabolic phenotyping is preferred but not a must. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
